Labor Costs and Wages

We are committed to the success of our employees. Our total compensation package – including industry-leading wages and benefits – provides our UAW represented employees with jobs that allow them to provide for themselves and their families.

Contractual enhancements during the last negotiations provided the average full-time represented employee with:

  • Wage increases and performance awards
  • Yearly performance bonuses
  • Quality awards

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, base wages for our UAW-represented employees are significantly higher than those for employees at both union and non-union companies and also higher when compared to other manufacturing companies in similar industries.

In fact, over the four-year term of the 2019 contract, the average full-time UAW employee saw an estimated 20% increase in their compensation (inclusive of eligible profit sharing payments), exceeding the increase in the cost of living during the same period.

For UAW-represented employees, the 2019 contract also provided the opportunity for significant increases in profit sharing payments due to the improved profit-sharing formula, resulting in the highest payments ever. The 2019 Agreement has provided more than $1.65 billion in profit sharing to represented employees.
